Lash Glossary: Styles, Techniques, Tools and Aftercare Terms
This glossary defines the lash terms LASHGASM uses across its service pages, courses and product guides, so that a style name, a tool or an aftercare instruction means the same thing everywhere on this site.
The definitions are LASHGASM's own, written for the work done at the Montréal studio and taught in its courses. Terms are grouped by subject and repeated in one alphabetical index, and each definition links to the page where the term is put to use.

Lash styles
A lash style describes how many extensions sit on each natural lash and how heavy they are, which is what creates the finish.
- Classic set
- A classic set places one extension on each natural lash for a defined, natural result. It is the entry style on the LASHGASM menu and the foundation taught in training. Eyelash extensions in Montréal
- Light volume set
- A light volume set uses small handmade fans to add soft fullness, sitting between a classic and a volume set. It suits finer natural lashes that could not carry a full fan. Eyelash extensions in Montréal
- Volume set
- A volume set applies handmade fans of several fine extensions to each natural lash for fuller, textured density. It depends on consistent fan-making technique. Eyelash extensions in Montréal
- Mega volume set
- A mega volume set takes fan-making to maximum density, using finer extensions and more of them per natural lash. It is the fullest finish on the LASHGASM menu. Eyelash extensions in Montréal
- Wispy set
- A wispy set alternates lengths to create a spiked, editorial outline rather than an even line. The pattern comes from the mapping agreed at the start of the appointment. Eyelash extensions in Montréal
- Wet look set
- A wet look set groups extensions into defined, glossy segments, like lashes that have just been wet. It stays crisp without pushing density to the maximum. Eyelash extensions in Montréal
- Strip lash look
- A strip lash look recreates the continuous, bold line of a strip lash band, but built lash by lash. It is the boldest of the LASHGASM full sets. Eyelash extensions in Montréal
- Brown lashes
- Brown lashes are a colour option that softens the contrast of a set compared with standard black. They are booked as an add-on with a full set or refill. Lash services menu
Appointments and techniques
These terms describe what happens during an appointment and how a set behaves over time.
- Full set
- A full set is the initial application across all eligible natural lashes, starting from bare lashes. Its length depends on the style chosen. Eyelash extensions in Montréal
- Refill
- A refill is an appointment that rebuilds density on an existing set once natural lashes have shed. It costs less and takes less time than a new full set. Refills and one-week touch-ups
- One-week touch-up
- A one-week touch-up is a short top-up booked within seven days of the previous appointment. Past that window, a refill applies instead. Refills and one-week touch-ups
- Lash mapping
- Lash mapping is the plan drawn before application that assigns lengths across the lash line to suit the eye shape. It is what decides the final style, and it is taught in both LASHGASM courses. Beginner lash course in Montréal
- Isolation
- Isolation is separating a single natural lash from its neighbours before an extension is attached. Without clean isolation lashes stick together and the set becomes uncomfortable. Beginner lash course in Montréal
- Handmade fan
- A handmade fan is a cluster of several very fine extensions assembled by the artist during the appointment. It is what separates volume and mega volume sets from classic work. Eyelash extensions in Montréal
- Lash lift
- A lash lift curls and sets your own natural lashes upward, with no extensions added. It suits anyone who wants an opened-up look without maintaining a set. Lash lift in Montréal
- Korean lash lift
- A Korean lash lift is a lift technique that shapes a softer, more natural curve than a standard lift. LASHGASM offers both techniques. Lash lift in Montréal
- Lash tint
- A lash tint darkens the natural lashes to strengthen the lash line, and is often combined with a lift. It is added to the lift appointment. Lash lift in Montréal
- Lash extension removal
- Removal professionally dissolves the adhesive so extensions come away without pulling out natural lashes. It should never be done by pulling at home. Lash extension removal
- Natural lash cycle
- The natural lash cycle is the growth and shedding rhythm each lash follows independently. It is why a set thins gradually instead of falling out all at once. Refills and one-week touch-ups
- Retention
- Retention is how long extensions stay attached before the natural lash carrying them sheds. It depends on both application technique and aftercare habits. Lash aftercare
Professional tools and products
These are the equipment categories used at the studio, issued in every student kit, and sold in the LASHGASM Shop.
- Lash tray
- A lash tray is the adhesive-backed card that holds extensions arranged by length, curl and thickness. The artist lifts each extension from it during application. LASHGASM Shop
- Curl
- Curl describes how strongly an extension is bent, from nearly straight to sharply lifted. Curl choice follows the direction of the natural lashes and the finish you want. LASHGASM Shop
- Diameter
- Diameter is the thickness of an extension: the finer it is, the more can be used in a fan without weighing the natural lash down. Volume sets use finer diameters than classic work. LASHGASM Shop
- Isolation tweezers
- Isolation tweezers separate and hold a single natural lash during application. Their fine tip is built for precision rather than for picking up extensions. LASHGASM Shop
- Volume tweezers
- Volume tweezers are shaped to pick up several fine extensions and gather them into a fan. Their profile differs from isolation tweezers for that reason. LASHGASM Shop
- Adhesive
- Adhesive is the professional glue that bonds an extension to the natural lash. It is stored and handled according to the manufacturer’s instructions. LASHGASM Shop
- Primer
- Primer prepares the natural lash by clearing residue and excess oil before application. Clean preparation is the first condition for good retention. Lash aftercare
- Bonder
- Bonder is applied after the set to help the adhesive finish curing. It is one of the professional liquids used at the end of an appointment. LASHGASM Shop
- Lash tape
- Lash tape holds and protects the lower lashes during the appointment. It is part of the preparation kit for every set. LASHGASM Shop
- Spoolie
- A spoolie is the small brush used to comb extensions so they stay aligned. It is also the daily aftercare tool clients take home. Lash aftercare
- Glue ring
- A glue ring is the small holder worn on the hand that carries the drop of adhesive during work. It keeps adhesive close and in a controlled amount. LASHGASM Shop
- Professional lash kit

Aftercare at home
Aftercare is the part of the result that belongs to the client between appointments.
- Lash aftercare
- Lash aftercare is the daily routine that protects a set or a lift: cleanse gently, brush, and keep oil-based products away. It directly decides how long the result lasts. Lash aftercare
- Oil-free cleanser
- An oil-free cleanser washes the lash line without dissolving extension adhesive. Oils and oil-based makeup removers do the opposite. Lash aftercare
- Shedding
- Shedding is the normal daily loss of a few natural lashes, each taking its attached extension with it. It is what makes refills necessary. Refills and one-week touch-ups
